Rock Guitars
Went to the auction at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the Rock guitars that were for Charity. Cool scene. They had about 55 guitars that were Stratocasters, reborn into one of a kind art pieces, donated by the Gibson co. Proceeds were to the Rock Hall, Cleveland Film Commission, and the Music School Settlement. There were local collectors of cool art, along with a few telephone hook-ups to New York, who ended up buying several of the guitars for their collectors. From what I saw, it was a great way to start a totally unique, one of a kind guitar collection – and you could actually play them, if you dared!
Mine were 2 of the 55, and were listed #2 and second last page in the Southeby’s catalogue. I was happy to know that donating
my time and services to make these twangers come to life ( which, like all good acts of creation, was pretty labor intensive, but ultimately a real hoot ) they were appreciated by the auction players, and ended up making over $2000 for the charities. A fun way to give back to the community!
